Rocky Mountains (Day 13)

In the morning, we cross town to where my sister’s family is staying, and we all load up into their vehicle for the winding but wondrous drive up to Estes and beyond, to Rocky Mountain National Park.

We’ve visited before, a few years back, but at the time we mostly rode and saw… today, we’ll hike.

The parking lots are listed as already full – we get a spot as someone else abandons it, having already finished their hikes – and we start out. The first part of our day is a quick hike around Bear Lake. It’s beautiful, though the air is crisp and cold at first. Eventually both the day and we warm up. By the time we finish the loop, the day is beautiful.

A cool and lovely morning, made even better by sharing it with my family. :)

Everyone still has energy – my nieces think they are mountain goats, and would climb every rock however precarious its placement, if they were allowed – so we head up to the falls.

It’s a good day, filled with family and fun and…

There’s not much left of our trip, but I am loving it.
